Whilst your comment does not directly relate to the cost of renting in tenerife, it is a certain fact that travel insurance for senior travellers is an issue.
For expats now living in Tenerife, it is important to check out the reciprocal arrangements with your country of previous domicile to see what your options are. If there is no reciprocal arrangement, then your only options are private healthcare or pay into the social insurance system. If there is a reciprocal arrangement, this may cover you for a period whilst you are under 65, but will be based on contributions paid in your previous country of domicile. Once over 65, any reciprocal arrangement would allow you access to all health services.
Do not make the mistake os assuming you can pretend to be a holiday maker and use your European Health Card, it won’t work for anything other than minor ailments or repeat prescriptions ( for which you will have to pay FULL price), anything major is not covered and you will be presented witha bill for any hospital care.

Another important area is that if you are a senior, travel insurance with regard to pensioners is something you should make sure you really take into consideration. The mature you are, the greater at risk you will be for permitting something bad happen to you while in another country. Yes Linda., it is. IBI is like council tax in the UK, so is a tax on your property and is collected by the council responsible for where you own. Whereas non residents income tax is a tax on you personally, and is collected by the tax office ( Hacienda)
